Afghan Production Assistant and Translator

I am looking for an Afghan Production Assistant (PA) who is an excellent communicator in English, Pashto, and Dari. This person does not need to have any film production experience but must instead be excited and willing to learn the ropes as they go. The PA will help in the planning of the production and will also be on set while the series is in production. The PA must be comfortable reaching out to schedule the featured “talent” and be able to translate on set, while assisting with various production tasks both on set and behind the scenes. The PA will be a valuable member of the team and must respect the lives and cultures of each family we film and interview. Pay is $15/hour. The PA will work approximately 40 hours on set and 20 hours in preproduction. Please email a letter of interest to Jennifer Potts at jenpotts1970@gmail.com.

Director of Photography/Gaffer

I am looking for an experienced Documentary DP/Gaffer for a docu-series about recently evacuated Afghan families who are now living in Worcester, MA. Because of the nature of this project, we need to work with a lean crew in tight spaces while we go into the homes of five Afghan families and capture their stories. The DP/Gaffer must have their own camera and simple lighting setup (as minimal as possible) and be able to adjust quickly to capture moments as they unfold. The DP must respect the lives and cultures of each family we film and interview. Pay is $200/day for 5 days (8 hours/day). Schedule will be determined after all crew and families are hired/set. Please email resume, letter of interest, and any relevant work samples to Jennifer Potts at jenpotts1970@gmail.com.

Journalist

I am looking for an experienced journalist to interview five recently evacuated Afghan families in their homes. The journalist does not need to speak Pashto or Dari, but they must be familiar with Afghan culture, Afghan history, and the many recent events that have unfolded in Afghanistan before and after 9/11, as well as recent events that have unfolded since August of 2021. Although we will go into filming with a series of targeted questions, the journalist must be able to think on their feet and dig deeper when needed, know when to back off when a subject gets too sensitive, and be able to get to the heart of each family's journey and story. In addition, the journalist must be able to ask questions that are not politically driven, but that instead are objective in nature, focusing on the human experience. Pay is $200/day for 5 days (8 hours/day). Schedule will be determined after all crew and families are hired/set. Please email resume, letter of interest, and any relevant work samples to Jennifer Potts at jenpotts1970@gmail.com.
